Barbera d’Alba Superiore DOC
Barbera wine is one of the most characteristic Piedmontese wines whose main cultivation extends between the provinces of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria. Barbera d’Alba Superiore DOC is a full-bodied, long-lived wine with an important and more complex structure than most of the Barbera d’Asti, being the hills of the Langhe doc the Barolo wine geologically more stratified than those of the Asti area. The “Superiore” version of Marenco’s Barbera d’Alba DOC differs from the “sister” Barbera d’Alba DOC due to the higher alcohol content, as required by the relative production disciplinary of Barbera wine in the Langhe as well as for greater longevity.
The cultivation and production of Barbera d’Alba DOC wine is regulated by the specification and by the Consorzio di Tutela dei vini delle Langhe
